Meet Teresa
About
Teresa is a professional Aerialist and Contortionist from South Lake Tahoe, CA. From the age of 2 she was put into Mommy & Me gymnastics classes and began competing in gymnastics at the age of 8. When she was 16 she went to Las Vegas and saw her first circus show “Le Reve” at the Wynn Hotel and was fascinated by the acrobats. When she got home she began researching for any training facilities that had some type of cirque/aerial classes and discovered Tahoe Aerial Arts. At the age of 17, she became fully committed to training aerial arts, taking every class available to her and by the age of 18 was teaching beginner aerials. Her years of gymnastics training gave her a solid foundation for aerial and a deep understanding of body mechanics. She realized that everything that held her back in gymnastics was what made her a great aerialist. By the age of 19, she attempted her first chin stand and began taking contortion lessons. At first, contortion always hurt her naturally flexible back so she began studying how to train safely and correctly so that the contortion training would feel good. Seeing herself and so many others at the gym injured through poor training, she decided to dedicate herself to creating a flexibility and contortion program that safely stretched people into beautiful contortion poses. She was awarded a scholarship for aerial teacher training at Aerial Revolution in San Diego, CA. Afterward, she began teaching both aerial and flexibility lessons. In 2017, she became a professional aerialist and contortionist; teaching classes during the week and performing on the weekends. In 2018, Teresa became a head coach for the Youth Team at Aerial Revolution and the head contortion coach at the gym. She was also the head of the aerial program at Center Stage School of Arts.
Nicknamed “Technical T” by her family and friends, Teresa has a unique way of breaking down body mechanics and understanding how the body moves and operates. She is very passionate about her craft and enjoys working with people of all ages and body types. As she helps people reach their athletic goals, she learns more about the human body and how to best train them. Nothing in this world gives her greater joy than watching her students’ amazement as their bodies begin to do things they never thought possible; all with proper guidance and consistent training. Her goal is to help others build confidence and become the fullest expression of themselves.
